Fertility Acupuncture & Getting Pregnant

Not since the Middle Ages has conception of a child been so difficult, they had a problem then, we are experiencing a fertility problem today. As it was then, it still is today, most women are actually fertile producing healthy eggs, if this is the case why are women having so many problems getting pregnant?

From personal clinical experience and conversations with women about the inability to conceive, it seems to have more to do with the 'actual' environment of where the baby is to live during the 9 months of pregnancy. You can use procedures such as, IVF or artificial insemination however if the environment isn't healthy and balanced a fetus won't grow subjecting you to further heart ache.

One issue that requires consideration is fertility drug consumption. Often woman are given drugs to help them have a period, a drug that is going to force a woman to bleed but what if a woman doesn't have enough blood to bleed? This consideration and more I will explain further for you to contemplate.

Today a major concern for women is that suddenly they have aged, Now they need to conceive yesterday!

For many women career and lifestyle choices have taken priority over fertility. Suddenly they reach their 35th birthday and the reality that youth is passing by and age is setting in occurs, usually with the realisation that they don't have a child, which is what most women want. So they get to work... Honey, lets have a baby??? "Sure" says the partner, "We have to practise a bit first, don't we?"

Behaving similar to rabbits for next month or two, the couple try to create the next member of human race, however to their disappointment they are not even able to conceive. The woman then stresses herself thinking she is too old or worse still not capable of for filing the role of a woman. Then to add insult to injury the in-laws and friends repeatedly ask "when are you going to have a family, you are not getting any younger you know!"

So you go home consider an over dose or slitting your wrists and wonder how is this old woman going to pull off the impossible? First of all "DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY" - seriously! Did you know that the number one cause of women not being able to conceive is due to stress? If you can relate to the above scenario you have just repeated the exact emotional state that is the cause - stress. So the first step is to relax, take a deep breath and take a good hard look at where you are now and what you have to do in order to conceive a child.

Trying to conceive while in an anxious, stressed state is a waste of time, it's great for the fertility clinic because you will make repeated visits to it, but this is about you. Stress only leads to creating a toxic body, would you like to grow in a toxic environment? Doubtful, as whatever does is usually toxic itself and you do not want a toxic baby. So first you should consider your lifestyle, are you still working, can you cut the hours? Are you over committed to debt mortgage, social gatherings, late nights, and a seemingly never ending list of things to do or people to please? All this will do is increase your stress levels. Chinese acupuncture works extremely well on stress, however you'll still need to make lifestyle changes if your daily life and habits are out of balance.

Fertility diet..... You may ask, what is that? I am sure there are specific fertility diets on the market but what I am referring to is, do you eat a lot of chilli, drink six cups of coffee, and drink alcohol until the rooster crows? These 3 things will contribute to heating up the liver which inturn will heat up your blood. Hot blood will not only make you more irritable, it can turn your uterus into the next Calcutta slums - hot, toxic and not a nice place to live.

Your digestive system is a major factor in conceiving a child "according to Chinese Medicine". The spleen, an organ very much overlooked in western medicine is an extremely important organ in Chinese medicine. The spleen receives nutrients from what food and beverage you consume, turning them into blood. The spleen is not only responsible for the amount of blood you have in your body; it also regulates the body's the amount of blood lost when menstruating. The spleen is also a major factor in miscarriages but this is another subject, for another time.

Let's now consider fertility drugs... If a woman is unable to produce blood naturally and then is forced to produce blood artificially what happens when a baby is conceived, where is the natural supply of blood for the baby to feed on? This then relates to the development of breast milk and the infants immune system once born. From this brief example you can see that if your body has one little weakness somewhere it will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the body.

Heat can create fertility problems but so can cold! If you experience cold hands and feet and certain types of period pain, perhaps we may need to warm you up. Too much cold in the body will also cause infertility. Have you ever seen an egg hatch in the fridge? That analogy is a bit extreme, but I'm sure you understand where I'm headed here. Our body has a natural balance of hot and cold "Yin & Yang" yin - cold and yang - hot. When they fall out of balance there will be problems in the body and lead to the inability of conceiving a child.

Most acupuncturists are able to help out re-balancing your body provided they have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Chinese Medicine. As for fertility acupuncture look for someone you can trust and feel comfortable with and don't give up on acupuncture / Chinese Medicine as it is your best chance of conceiving and giving life to a healthy child.
