Feng Shui Consultants

With so many DIY Feng Shui books on the market, many would ask, why would I need to employ a Feng Shui consultant for my home or business?

Mu Chi
In the Western countries there is typically limited knowledge about how Feng Shui can assist people in their daily lives. Many are yet to be convinced that Feng Shui is bonefied given there are no equal practices in the West. The majority of books on the market will give enough information to get the basics of your home set up and functioning well, however, when it comes to more serious events a family or business may experience, this basic knowledge will not be sufficient to resolve or minimise experiences like:
  • rapid loss of financial wealth
  • major and lingering illnesses
  • severe relationship difficulties between spouses
  • breakdown of interfamily relationships
  • loss of job and career
  • obtaining low grades in examinations
  • legal issues and so on.
Feng Shui is an unregulated industry in Australia. The definition of Feng Shui and what it encompasses has not been defined or benchmarked by a recognized Australian or International standard. There are many companies offering Feng Shui as a service where the consumer is left to determine if the service they are offering is what they expect. Often the client is unsure what to ask for, having faith in Feng Shui from what they have read in books, magazines or heard from friends. Many people have taken traditional Chinese Feng Shui and blended it with other similar practices. In an industry where the client may not be as discerning as with other industries like Interior decorating or colour consulting, then there is an up front education process your Feng Shui consultant should go through to ensure clients are not left surprised or in post purchase dissidence.

Whilst gaining popularity, the experiences of many people who have employed a Feng Shui consultant are inconsistent. For some, the anecdotal feedback sees miraculous turn around in their quality of life, while with others they have had such a bad experience that they lose confidence in Feng Shui as a tool that adds value to their lives.

With no regulatory body overseeing the quality or authenticity of Feng Shui that a client will receive, the client must select a feng shui consultant based on criteria. Many have selected based on price and level of connection with the feng shui consultant. These are valid criteria, however, if one wants to compare apples with apples there are additional factors worth investigating.

For example:
1) Is your Feng Shui consultant qualified with a reputable school?
2) If they are qualified, what type of Feng Shui do they practice and apply professionally?
3) Do they perform Feng Shui with a Compass or Luo Pan?
4) Do they have real examples and experience in their field? Can they produce referrals?

If you are after real and lasting Feng Shui to resolve persistent issues, avoid potential events or to make your good life incredible, then you would be looking for a traditional Chinese Feng Shui consultant who is qualified in Form School and Flying Star School Feng Shui.

Form School Feng Shui focuses on how the physical surrounds and environment are affecting you. Flying Star School Feng Shui assesses the influence of unseen energy as it changes in your space over time. Your consultant will use a Luo Pan or compass and ask you for the age of your building as well as a floor plan of your home or office. For those that are truly committed to their profession, the individual's birth date and place of birth will be assessed to tailor the Feng Shui consultation to the individual's that use that space - providing a fortified assessment. Once you can answer these questions, then you are able to compare Feng Shui consultants based on price and whether you have a rapport with that person.
